Friday's show was chock full of comedy! Standup, music, variety and dance performances presented by an eclectic mix of professionals and newcomers had audiences rolling in the aisles.
Act One Host
Carilynn has appeared on TV’s She Kills Me, She’s So Funny, Comedy Now, The Toronto Show and CBC Radio’s Brave New Waves and Madly Off In All Directions. She studied comedy with Toronto’s The Second City and performed in two female sketch troupes. In Victoria, she has performed at Temple Comedy, Phillips Comedy Night, Ratfish Comedy and more.
Kirsten Van Ritzen
Act Two Host
Kirsten is a professional actor and comedienne, as well as a producer, theatre director, and playwright. She teaches improv, standup and acting in her spare time. Kirsten has received critical acclaim for performances in every major city in Canada. Now based in Victoria, in 2013 she acted in plays That Face, Smalltown A Pickup Musical, The Odd Couple, 3 Chorus/Line/Cabarets; TV series Dark Waters of Crime and She Kills Me, numerous standup comedy shows, and two seasons of the improv serial SIN CITY, of which she is co-creator & producer. www.kirstenvanritzen.com
Justine Is a 4th year U Vic Anthropology student and a newcomer to standup! She has been making people laugh semiweekly at Ratfish Comedy and Cenote, and was invited to showcase for Yuk Yuk's Mark Breslin. Her comedy is both adorable and bleak. Follow her weird thoughts on Twitter @JustineDrummond
Lenore is a motivational speaker who's on stress leave for depression. She's been a professional speaker for many years but has only just come out of the closet...the stand-up comedy closet. She came out as a Lesbian many years ago. She also has a disability. She likes to dish about both. Lenore has performed at Ratfish Comedy, the Victoria Pride comedy show, Last Laughs and more.
Known as the tie-dye comic, Melanie has a unique take on her life and the world around her. She has become a fixture on the Vancouver comedy scene, and has performed in comedy clubs across Canada. She has opened for Mike MacDonald, and been featured on Bite-TV and APTN’s She Kills Me. Melanie also performs at mental health and wellness events to help remove the stigma of Bi-Polar diagnoses.
Natalie's comedy style is quirky, intelligent and just a bit awkward. Natalie has performed at Ratfish, Philips, and The Showdown - winning the crown for best performance of the night. Natalie works as an Arts Journalist.
Maxine is an Educational psychologist on a life long journey to discover why women fall in lust with lunatics. She has acted in community theatre, including the premiere of Ghosts of the Plaza ,and has performed in various comedy shows such as Sunday Night Improv, The Derwin Blanshard Show and more.
Jay has been entertaining, enthralling (& occasionally terrorizing) audiences for the
past ten years. She co-hosts Hootenanny, the long-running and popular musical open mic at Logan’s Pub, frequently hosts Diversion and Burlesque Cabarets produced by Keith Sonic, and is a regular
performer at Phillips Comedy Night. Her unique style includes elements of
performance art, music, improvisation & stand up. She lives with her mother .
Ana de Lara
Ana de Lara is a comic, actor, improvisor, sketch comedy performer and award-winning filmmaker. In 2013 Ana won The
Ultimate Comic Competition, earning her a spot opening for Tom Green. She has also won Vancouver's Funniest Comic With a Day Job Contest. Ana makes her TV debut as a comedienne in She Kills Me. www.anadelara.com
